Haunted from Italy released their second full-length last month, June 8th to be precise. Often compared to Windhand and probably often neglected by people due to this. Not fair I think and yes, the Windhand influences are most definitely there but see it as a good thing.
Haunted is standing firmly on its own legs despite the Windhand thingy and what you get is something that’s dripping occultism and leaking heavy riffs. Haunted seems to feel alright in this style of heavy and slow distorted music and continues with Dayburner where they left of with their self-titled debut album from 2016 but more varied, almost if they want to prove themselves to the criticasters.
They didn’t need to do that but to be honest, Dayburner turned out as a great album. Cristina Chimirri’s voice sounds sometimes bright and fierce and at other times devilish or spooky, she knows exactly how to turn the mood in a song with her voice. Haunted have clearly grown as a band and improved their skills and that have led to Dayburner, an album that will stand through time.
