Mist from Slovenia is almost an all-female band. They started out in 2012 as all-female but guitarist Nina left the band after two years and a good replacement was found in Blaz Tansek.
Mist released their debut demo in 2013 and that gained them right away a lot of attention, Soulseller Records stepped in and released the demo on a vinyl 7″. The Inan EP followed in 2015 and now their debut full-length, Free Me of the Sun is out, also via Soulseller Records.
The band continued with their brand of Sabbath-worship on Free Me of the Sun. Vocalist Nina is once again the strong center point of Mist’s sound, her characteristic voice is something you don’t hear that much when it comes to female fronted bands but it suits the slow music more than fine. She can deliver loads of power but also sounds emotional if a song requires that.
Mist delivers 10 tracks with Free Me of the Sun and despite being a doom band, the songs have a pleasant duration time, somewhere between 3 and 6 minutes for each song so the songs aren’t endlessly going on and on for the sake of making long songs.
Free Me of the Sun is a strong debut, the band took the time to write songs and the result is that Mist is a band to watch out for. For now, order Free Me of the Sun HERE
