Feronia from Italy really surprised me with Thumbs Up, at first I didn’t know what to think of the song as Elena Lippe uses her voice in this song in a spoken kinda way but the next day I pressed 10 times in a row on repeat and Thumbs Up quickly grew into one of my fave songs of the moment.
Thumbs Up comes from the album Anima Era that’s out for a few months now and of course, I had a listen on Spotify. Once again I had to get used to it. The kinda spoken singing is only used in Thumbs Up and Anima Era is an album that mixes symphonic with alternative metal and I might even add some nu metal and progressive rock to it.
And just as happened with the video from Thumbs Up, the next day Anima Era stood for the most of the day on repeat. Feronia has something that grabs me and won’t let go, they are not the greatest band in the world and Anima Era isn’t the greatest album in the world but there is something about them that keeps pulling me towards their music. Highly enjoyable and I would love to see them live once.
