From the ashes of Velociter comes Xenoblight. Steffen Hagelskjær, Thomas Halborg Madsen and vocalist Marika Hyldmar wanted to continue their musical career after the split of Velociter and formed Xenoblight together with Mikkel Jepsen and Rasmus Tobias Clemmensen.
After five years in Velociter things got stuck for the band and new energy was needed. Thus Xenoblight was born and while Velociter didn’t release an full-lenght album in it’s existence, Xenoblight starts right away with it.
Procreation was released in February this year and the 10 tracks are proof that the new energy is found. Xenoblight moved a little more towards death metal and the result is an album that’s aggressive sounding, especially due to Marika’s voice who screams and growls her lungs out, and has loads of melody and progressive elements woven into it. Listen to the instrumental track Xenoblight and you know that the musicians are more than capable of writing good songs with progressive elements.
Favorite track is the 52 seconds lasting track Kill Yourself, it’s complete wrecking your ears and stops before permanent damage is done. The other songs on Procreation last longer, between 4 and 5 minutes mostly and that gives enough room for the band to build strong and solid songs with enough diversity.
Love this album and so should you!
