Petrol Girls – Survivor
Inspired by Destiny’s Child, UK’s Petrol Girls have released an new song for an upcoming EP on Hassle Records. The feminist post hardcore outfit started in 2012 and after some EP’s their debut album Talk of Violence was released in 2017 on Bomber Music. An exact release date for the new EP has not be given yet.
“This song has been massively inspired by the growing movement against sexual violence,” explains singer Ren Aldridge. “The people who’ve spoken up so courageously about their experiences have broken the silence that has protected abusers in the past, often at massive risk to their own safety and well-being. I hope that their bravery inspires the cultural shift in attitudes that is so desperately needed. We need a society-wide change in our attitudes towards sex and a basic understanding no one is entitled to another person’s body and that each individual has rights over their own body.
