Choral Hearse – An Abduction
From Berlin, Germany progressive doom metal and all female act Choral Hearse will release their debut full-length Mire Exhumed on April 16. Choral Hearse was originally formed as an acoustic metal duo but with the adding of a drummer and bass player the sound became more sinister and eclectic. The band members come from all over the world, the United States, Algeria, Hungary and Israel respectively but as said before, now based in Berlin.

Smoulder – The Sword Woman
Epic doom metal from Canada & the USA, the band is active since 2013 and The Sword Woman will be their debut cassette with three tracks on it. Release date is set on April 20, 2018 via Hoove Child Records from Chicago. What to expect, traditional doom in the likes of Trouble, Count Raven, Penance, Saint Vitus and Solitude Aeturnus with female vocals from Sarah Ann which give’s the music an certain occult-ish vibe although Smoulder has nothing to do with occult rock. And you better hurry up with ordering the tape as pre-orders going fast already.

The Body – Nothing Stirs
Although The Body is a male duo existing of Chip King and Lee Buford, they often seek collaboration with other artists and for the song Nothing Stirs they worked together with Lingua Ignota’s Kristin Hayter and it’s so fucking good that I have to included this song here. The song comes from the new album called I Have Fought Against It, But I Can’t Any Longer. Set for release on May 11th via Thrill Jockey it follows No One Deserve Happiness, the album from 2016. Other guest contributors on the upcoming album are Chrissy Wolpert (Assembly of Light Choir), Ben Eberle (Sandworm) and Uniform’s Michael Berdan.

Drug Cult – Serpent Therapy
Formed in 2015 in Australia, Drug Cult will release it’s debut via Ritual Productions on June 1st this year. The four piece occultist doom outfit exists of guitarist Vin Steele (ex. Wolfmother, Megaritual, Sun Of Man), vocalist Aasha Tozer, drummer Dale Walker (Megaritual, Sun Of Man) and bassist Maggie Schreiber. Delivering some wicked psychedelic tunes, nine in total on the debut album, and the first offering can be seen in the above video that’s directed by Nat Collins. Allow the cult to coil around your psyche!

Aliens’Light – Lies (Forget-me-not)
Italian Aliens’Light has created an interesting mix of industrial, metalcore and symphonic metal. Lies (Forget-me-not) is the second single the band released from the upcoming debut album which shall be released somewhere in 2018 according to the band. At the moment there’s no record label involved so it will be an DIY release.

Ails – Bitter Past
If you remember Ludicra you will be pleased to know that the voice of Ludicra, Laurie Sue Shanaman, has returned with Ails. The debut album The Unraveling will be out in April via The Flenser. Together with guitarist/vocalist Christy Cather, also from Ludicra, and Sam Abend, Colby Bryn and Jason Miller they deliver extreme metal that’s called black metal. The Unraveling will be an pleasant listen once it’s out.
