If you like music from bands such as WARDRUNA and HEILUNG, make sure you pick up ODAL, the fifth album from Siberian act NYTT LAND. The dark shamanic folk that NYTT LAND creates is inspired by the traditional folk of Northern Europe with the use of overtone throat singing for both male and female. The vocals are done by Anatoly and Natalya Pahalenko and they also let their 4 year old son Yuri take part in the recording of ODAL and by doing this they emphasize the concept of the album – Heritage. With instruments such as drums, percussion, frame-drum, jew-harp, tin whistle and tagelharpa handled by Anatoly, Natalya, Vladimir Titkov and Sergey Silitcky the band creates ancient music that sounds fresh and lively. The help of guest musicians on two of the songs from ODAL gives the album more depth and diversity.
ODAL is the second album that NYTT LAND released via COLD SPRING RECORDS.
