The best way to start the week is with new music! We’ve piled them up for your listening pleasure, the best tracks released the last few days in metal, gothic, electronic, punk, hardcore and every other related underground music with female vocals. There’s also a Spotify playlist from Vokills with those songs and will be updated each week.
Nemesea – Twilight (new vocal version 2018)
I have some kind of love/hate relationship with Dutch Nemesea, some songs I dig very well and others not that much. This new vocal version from Twilight, originally on Nemesea’s 2016 album Uprise and with Manda Ophuis on vocals, has gotten new vocals from the bands new frontwoman Sanne Mieloo. And without disrespecting Manda’s performances, I really love this new version.

Neophobia – Powerlust
Italian Neophobia will release it’s debut album, Monstermind, in March 2018 and Powerlust is the first songs that’s unleashed. I like the rawness on this song and can imagine that the whole album will be like this. It’s symphonic metal but with a certain heaviness, also due to the growls from guitarist Nicola Manfrini. For the clean vocals is Carmen Grandi responsible and she has a nice voice, very pleasant to hear and she adds a lot of melody to the raw music.

Meka Nism – The War Inside
Florida based metal band Meka Nism describe themselves as Pure Unadulterated, In-Your Face, Take No Prisoners Metal. And that’s about right, while the music is melodic and vocalist Meka sings mostly clean she can also summon the demons with her raw shrieking growls. The new EP The War Inside is the follow up on their 2015 EP The Shift.

Vermilia – Haudoille
One woman band Vermilia present it’s third single Haudoille. Hailing from Finland Vermilia plays pagan metal and features beautiful melodic vocals sung in her native Finnish language. Combine those clean vocals with fierce growls in the background and you have Haudoille. Vermilia is apparently still looking for a record label to release the debut album but hopefully she find one soon cause this music needs proper attention worldwide.

Exploring Birdsong – The Downpour
Wow, just Wow! The Downpour from Exploring Birdsong is a characteristic piece: moody, menacing and beautifully morose. This threesome from the UK is a piano driven progressive rock collective that easily can be placed at the top of the charts and that without even an album out. Till now the band has released two singles and hopefully more new songs will come soon as I already need more of this.
