It’s Friday! Get ready for the weekend with these great tunes from Euzen and share them with your friends!
I love Euzen since I heard their song Judged By from the 2011 album Sequel. The song remained on heavy rotation through my Youtube playlist but as my playlist got bigger and bigger with the years Euzen removed a little to the background until last weekend when the god of shuffle decided it was time for Euzen and I heard Judged By again. And because it’s such a great song I decided to catch up with Euzen and discovered that they released another album in 2015.
Euzen started in 2006 when the Danish Christopher Juul en Norwegian Maria Franz decided to form a band. Their first live performance was in 2008 and the debut album appeared in 2009 onto the market. In 2011 the sophomore album Sequel was released and the latest album in 2015. Between those years the band released a couple of singles, a live DVD, Live from the Euzeniverse, a live album, Live from Leipzig in 2015 and that’s about it with the releases from Euzen. The band still plays live and did some gigs in 2017.
Euzen is an old Greek word or expression made by Aristoteles. Directly translated EU means “to”and ZEN means consciousness, Aristoteles explained the meaning of Euzen to be the path to the good life and that the good life is to fulfil your true nature.
Singer Maria is involved with other bands also and became a fulltime member of Heilung after she was a guest vocalist on Heilung’s debut album. Maria did also guest vocals for Omnia, Ehwaz and L.E.A.F. on their albums and did some percussions for Myrkur’s album Mareridt.
