Flammea from Brazil is a hidden gem in the metal world for whom nobody ever heard of except people in Brazil and a few die hard metal fans around the world. Started in 1988 as an all-female band and after three demos and a split the band disbanded in 1994 and i couldn’t believe it myself, Flammea is today alive and kicking!
There was some activity in 2010 with some sort of revival gig on Marreco`s Fest in Brazil as Raquel Dias, singer from de band Foxy Lady and composer of two old songs from Flammea played there with some other members, but since 2016 the band has really woken up again and even plays live nowadays with a line up existing from old and new members.
Throughout the years the line up always have been difficult for Flammea, in the early nineties the band got a record deal with Rock Brigade from Brazil but had to move to Sao Paulo and not all original members could do that so new members were found to record new demos and play live. Unfortunately the economy started to get really bad around 1994 in Brazil and Flammea lost their record deal so eventually the band got disbanded.
In 2015 the aforementioned Rock Brigade brought a compilation album out with the demos from Flammea with the purpose to save the legacy of Flammea and after that the flame started to grow for Flammea again. New members were found and rehearsing started again. I wouldn’t mind to see them live in Europe!
