Arkona’s ninth full-lenght album Khram really surprised me, i was never that much into the pagan metal from the band and now i can’t stop listening to Khram. The album has been released on january 19th via Napalm Records.
With king-sized songs the music shifts from blackened pagan metal to almost fairytale melodies without loosing the flow and becoming to soft. And this flow is what makes Khram so strong, the use of cellos, children voices, piano, wind instruments and other instruments make each song complete and combined with Masha’s voice, going from clear to dark low screaming, it’s like a story you can listen to and never get bored with.
Khram, the russian word for temple, counts 7 songs and in- and outro and last for more than an hour. An hour well spent.
