Dawn Crosby, born 5 April 1963 in Maryland, was the vocalist for Detente and Fear of God among others. She died on 15 December 1996 in Los Angeles.
She started to sing back in the late 70’s in a band called Majesty where mostly covers were done from Black Sabbath, Ramones etc. The band played gigs in their local area but at the end they got more and more popular. Nevertheless the band split up and Dawn is active in the band First Attack for a while before in 1983 Allies is formed. One demo is recorded but after that the band split up and Dawn forms Detente and a few demo’s and one full-lenght are being recorded before finally the band split up in 1989. Detente has some sort of reunion from 2007 till 2010 but is now split up again, the band used Ann Boleyn and Tiina Teal for the vocals in this period. There was a split with Catalepsy (former members from Detente) released in 2008 and a full-lenght in 2010 called Decline.
After the split of Detente Dawn reformed a new band in 1989 called Fear of God and with this band she got a major deal with Warner Bros Records to release the debut full-lenght Within the Veil. A single was released before the album.
Struggles in the band caused the band to seek almost every year for new members but they continued and a new album, Toxic Voodoo, was released in 1994 on another label, Pavement Music. The swansong was released in 1995, a EP on cassette called Killing the Pain.
With Fear of God Dawn was also active as producer, she worked on the Within the Veil album and on the Toxic Voodoo as a co-producer. After her dead the remaining members from Fear of God continued under the monicker FOG for a few years but split up in 2000. The band was reformed later again but under the name Serpents Aria.
